Two individuals were injured on Sunday morning after a mini truck conveying perishable items overturned on the Third Mainland Bridge near the University of Lagos waterfront. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in an update shared on X, confirmed that the affected vehicle had been successfully removed from the road, although the process of transferring its cargo was still in progress. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over the failure to account for the missing or diverted N55.9 billion meant for the purchase of smart card readers, ballot papers, result sheets and other election materials for the 2019 general elections. The grave allegations are documented in the latest annual report published by the Auditor-General on 9 September 2025. Former Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, has called on the Federal Government to decentralise policing by moving it from the exclusive legislative list to the concurrent list. Obono-Obla’s call follows earlier remarks made in December 2025 by the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, who advocated the creation of a state police system.
