President Bola Tinubu has carried out a minor reshuffle within the Federal Executive Council, relieving Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, of their duties.
The development was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). The statement referenced an official memo signed by the SGF, George Akume.
According to the memo, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Muttaqha Darma has been named Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development.
The outgoing ministers have been instructed to complete the handover process to their successors on or before April 23, 2026.
Explaining the rationale behind the changes, Akume said the reshuffle is intended to enhance coordination and improve performance in key sectors in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the decision aligns with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
President Tinubu also commended the affected ministers for their service and wished them success in their future pursuits.
