A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja is scheduled to hear a suit on Friday seeking to prevent former President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the 2027 presidential election. Naija News reports that the case was instituted by lawyer Johnmary Jideobi, who is asking the court to declare Jonathan constitutionally unqualified to run for president again. The national leadership of Accord has distanced itself from reports endorsing Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The party also denied claims that it had directed its Abia State chapter to align with the ruling Labour Party in the state.
