Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has been crowned the men's PFA Players' Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season, as Manchester City's Bunny Shaw won the women's award for a second time.   The Playmaker broke the all-time record for Premier League assists during an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, setting up 21 goals as he surpassed Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.   The 31-year-old also scored nine times as United overcame a shaky first half of the campaign to finish third in the Premier League under Michael Carrick and earn a Champions League return. Cameroon Football Federation president, and former international star, Samuel Eto’o has thrown his support behind FIFA President Gianni Infantino, insisting that the FIFA chief has “not done anything wrong” despite growing criticism of his leadership. “I don’t think that President Gianni Infantino has done anything wrong,” Eto’o said in an exclusive interview with CNN. The former Cameroon captain attributed much of the criticism surrounding Infantino to the upcoming FIFA presidential election. “All of this is happening because there is an election coming up. Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has joined Bundesliga club Hamburger SV on a permanent transfer from French side OGC Nice. The 27-year-old Nigeria international has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Hamburg until 2029 and will wear the No. 9 shirt. Former world champion boxer,  Zolani Tete, has been shot de@d outside his home in South Africa at the age of 38. The South African boxer was arriving at his residence in Mdantsane, in the Eastern Cape, and waiting for his gate to open when two armed men wearing balaclavas got out of a vehicle and opened fire, police said. A 27-year-old woman travelling with him was shot multiple times and taken to hospital, according to Gayton McKenzie, South Africa's sports, arts and culture minister, who confirmed the boxer's death on Friday. "I will not speculate about who did this or why," McKenzie said. Police have begun an investigation and the motive remains unclear. FIFA has banned three Argentina players on Friday, including a 10-match suspension for midfielder Leandro Paredes, for striking Spain opponents moments after losing the World Cup final.  The ban for Paredes, who grabbed Spain’s Eric Garcia by the throat and pushed Gavi to the ground ranks alongside the FIFA sanctions for Uruguay forward Luis Suarez in 2014 as among the most severe in World Cup history.  Argentina defender Nahuel Molina was handed a seven-game ban while Thiago Almada was given a one-game suspension. Nigerian world record holder, Tobi Amusan, has been confirmed to compete in the $2.1 million Athlos all-female track and field series in London and New York this year. Amusan, who holds the world record in the women’s 100m hurdles, will compete in her specialist event at both legs of the series, with the London event scheduled for September 18 and the New York edition set for October 2. “The world record holder is coming to Athlos.
