A restaurant owned by former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has collapsed, leaving behind debts of over £563,000, according to newly released financial records.
The business, George’s Dining Room and Bar in Greater Manchester, shut down last year and has been unable to clear its outstanding liabilities. Documents also show the company failed to pay a £22,000 fee owed to its liquidators.
Giggs reportedly lost £99,925 of his own money after investing in the venture. At the time of its closure, the restaurant owed £75,616 in taxes, £44,095 in bank loans and overdrafts, and £28,302 in unpaid staff wages.
Liquidators confirmed that creditors will not recover any of their funds, citing insufficient assets to cover the debts.
The 52-year-old launched the restaurant in 2014 alongside business partners Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor.
Despite the setback, Giggs has remained active in football circles, recently travelling to South Korea for a legends match alongside former teammates including Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidić, and Dimitar Berbatov.
