Tinubu May Visit Washington, Hold Talks With Trump – Nigerian Ambassador

Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Kayode Are, has indicated that President Bola Tinubu could embark on an official visit to Washington before the end of his tenure, with the possibility of meeting U.S. President Donald Trump.

Are disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television’s programme, Inside Sources, hosted by Laolu Akande.

According to the ambassador, the timing of such a visit would depend on President Tinubu’s schedule and other logistical considerations.

He noted that despite the absence of a physical meeting between the two leaders so far, diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States remains active at various levels.

“The relationship between the two, I’m sure, we will be able to get that done one way or the other. Of course, the itinerary of a President determines where he goes and where he can’t go,” Are said.

He added that strengthening U.S.-Nigeria relations remains a key objective of ongoing diplomatic engagements.

“That is part of the process of what the U.S.-Nigeria engagement will hope to achieve. Right now, there is a good level of contact and engagement from top to bottom. Even if you have not seen them together physically, there is a good level of engagement that is going on,” he stated.

Expressing optimism, the ambassador said he hopes President Tinubu will make an official visit to the United States before his tenure ends.

“I would hope that during my tenure, a presidential visit would be possible. It would give me the greatest joy to receive my President, and I know many Nigerians would be happy. But that depends on contingencies,” Are added.
