The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the 2026 Direct Entry registration exercise to May 22, 2026.
According to reports, the extension is aimed at giving prospective Direct Entry candidates additional time to complete their registration and submit all required documents for admission.
Several applicants were reportedly experiencing delays in obtaining academic credentials and other vital documents needed for the registration process.
The extension is expected to provide affected candidates enough time to finalise their applications and avoid missing out on the 2026 admission exercise.
This is not the first adjustment made by the examination body. JAMB had earlier shifted the registration deadline to May 8 and also approved additional accredited registration centres nationwide to ease congestion and simplify the process for applicants.
Candidates have been urged to register as early as possible instead of waiting until the final days, in order to avoid challenges such as network failures, overcrowded centres and incomplete documentation.
Meanwhile, JAMB continues preparations for the 2026 admission exercise ahead of the admission policy meeting scheduled for May 11, 2026.
The meeting is expected to focus on admission procedures and guidelines for tertiary institutions across the country.
