Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called on authorities to arrest the Director-General of the Budget Office and launch a comprehensive investigation into Nigeria’s budgeting process.
VDM made the demand in a video shared on his Instagram page while reacting to the arrest of the Director-General of the Project Financial Implementation and Public-Private Partnership Commission (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Matthew.
According to him, Adeniyi had privately disclosed details about how the PFIPC was allegedly included in the national budget with the support of influential individuals within government.
VDM claimed he decided to make the information public because he believes authorities are attempting to make Adeniyi solely responsible for the alleged wrongdoing.
He maintained that the PFIPC boss did not act alone, describing him as a victim of what he called a deeply rooted corrupt system that may have existed for many years.
The activist urged security agencies to investigate the Budget Office thoroughly, insisting that the matter should not end with only Adeniyi facing prosecution.
Addressing the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, VDM acknowledged the reported ₦15 billion lawsuit filed against Adeniyi for allegedly linking him to the controversy. However, he argued that other officials mentioned in the allegations should also be investigated rather than focusing on Adeniyi alone.
VDM further called for the immediate resignation of the Director-General of the Budget Office and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, insisting that they, alongside officials working in the affected offices, should be investigated and prosecuted if found culpable.
He concluded by alleging that the country’s governance system is plagued by corruption and stressed that genuine accountability, rather than politically motivated action, is necessary to strengthen Nigeria’s institutions.
