Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior has reportedly rejected Real Madrid’s latest contract proposal after renewal talks between the club and his representatives ended without an agreement on Wednesday, August 5.
According to talkSPORT, via Complete Sports, both parties were unable to agree on the player’s salary demands despite Vinicius’ reported desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The contract deadlock has fueled speculation over the 26-year-old’s future, with Arsenal emerging as one of the clubs closely monitoring the situation. The Premier League side is reportedly willing to make the Brazilian their highest-paid player if an opportunity to sign him arises.
Although Vinicius is said to prefer extending his stay with the Spanish giants, uncertainty remains as negotiations continue to stall. Reports suggest Real Madrid could consider selling the Brazil international this summer rather than risk losing him for free when his contract expires in 2027.
The transfer fee is another sticking point. Real Madrid are reportedly demanding €170 million for the winger, while Arsenal are believed to value him at around €150 million, leaving a significant gap between both clubs.
Despite entering the final year of his contract, Vinicius would be eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from January if no extension is reached before then.
Former Real Madrid striker and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic has further intensified speculation by claiming that Vinicius has already turned down the club’s latest contract renewal offer, raising fresh questions about the forward’s long-term future in Madrid.
