Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has returned to the club’s Valdebebas training ground as uncertainty over his long-term future continues ahead of the new season.
The Brazilian international resumed training on Monday after enjoying a break following the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He is expected to complete routine medical examinations before beginning pre-season preparations under newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho.
His return comes as contract negotiations with the Spanish giants remain unresolved. Reports from Spain suggest the coming days could be decisive in determining whether the 26-year-old extends his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu or departs the club.
Negotiations over a new deal have reportedly stretched for more than a year without a breakthrough, leaving Vinicius with just one year remaining on his current contract. The prolonged stalemate has intensified speculation about his future.
Premier League champions Arsenal are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation and could make an approach if discussions between the player and Real Madrid fail to produce an agreement.
Vinicius arrived at Real Madrid City alongside new signing Bernardo Silva, who recently joined the club on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City. Brahim Diaz has also linked up with the squad as Mourinho begins preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Real Madrid have already reinforced their squad this summer with the additions of Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Carlos Espi. However, the club’s pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, reportedly valued at over £100 million, has slowed, while interest in Manchester City midfielder Rodri remains.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are edging closer to completing the signing of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a deal believed to be worth around £80 million. The midfielder is expected to undergo a medical before the transfer is officially completed after missing Newcastle’s return to pre-season training in Spain.
