Gov. Oborevwori Suspends Works Commissioner Indefinitely Over Alleged Assault

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has suspended the state Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, indefinitely over allegations linking him to the alleged assault of the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple.

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu.

According to the state government, the decision was taken to allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.

The government said the suspension was necessary to ensure that the investigation proceeds without interference.

It reiterated that the Oborevwori administration remains committed to protecting public safety, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding human life.

The alleged incident reportedly followed a confrontation between Izeze and Mudi at the PTI facility in Effurun.

Security agencies are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and determine what transpired between the two officials.

The state government did not disclose how long the investigation would last or whether the commissioner would be reinstated after the probe.

However, it stressed that the suspension was an administrative measure intended to facilitate a transparent investigation and does not amount to a declaration of guilt against Izeze.
