“Truth Matters” — RCCG Clears Air on Claims Adeboye Halted Protest

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has debunked reports suggesting its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, endorsed any political party or candidate, stressing that he remains non-partisan in his public engagements.

In a statement issued on Tuesday through the church’s official public relations platform on X, RCCG explained that Pastor Adeboye has consistently encouraged members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in elections based on personal conviction and conscience.

According to the church, the cleric’s teachings have always emphasized civic responsibility rather than political allegiance. It added that RCCG members belong to different political parties and should be allowed to exercise their democratic rights freely and responsibly.

The church also dismissed reports claiming that Adeboye called off a planned protest, describing such assertions as misleading. RCCG clarified that the pastor merely relayed a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria regarding adjustments to an ongoing three-day prayer programme.

Under the revised arrangement, the grand finale of the programme was moved to a central venue, with a rally scheduled to take place around the same location.

Addressing claims that Adeboye has remained silent on national concerns, RCCG maintained that the respected cleric has repeatedly spoken on issues including insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for righteous leadership.

The church noted, however, that Adeboye typically addresses such matters through prayers, moral instruction, and counsel rather than direct political confrontation.

RCCG further stated that neither the church nor its General Overseer should be judged based on misinformation or inaccurate reports. It urged the public to rely on official RCCG communication channels and authorized representatives for verified information.

The church also called on bloggers, commentators, media organizations, and content creators to verify facts before publication, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and fairness in reporting.

“The public deserves the truth, and Pastor Adeboye as well as RCCG deserve fair representation. Verify before you believe. Fact-check before you publish. Truth matters,” the statement concluded.
