Nigerian Afrobeats star Ikuforiji Olaitan, known professionally as Oxlade, has said his upbringing and strong Christian background are the reasons he stays away from smoking and hard drugs.
Speaking in an interview with gospel singer Tim Godfrey, the Ku Lo Sa hitmaker explained that he comes from a deeply religious and musically gifted family, which shaped his values and lifestyle.
Oxlade revealed that his music journey began in the church choir, where he served across different age groups, adding that his grandmother is a deaconess, his grandfather was a multi-instrumentalist, and several family members are gifted singers and dancers.
He noted that gospel music played a major role in his development and credited God for his success, stressing that his achievements are the result of divine guidance and not chance.
