Iyabo Obasanjo Meets President Tinubu, Shares Plans for Ogun Governorship

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian president, visited Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence to discuss her aspirations to become governor of Ogun State.

In a statement released Tuesday, Obasanjo said she briefed President Tinubu on her vision for the state, outlining key priorities in governance, development, and public service if elected. She also reflected on her longstanding relationship with the president, describing it as one of mutual respect and years of political collaboration.

She remarked, “On Monday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance, and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”

During the meeting, Obasanjo reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to support President Tinubu’s efforts ahead of the next general election.

Regarding her plans to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027, she said, “I have been part of Ogun State’s political landscape for many years and understand the aspirations and challenges of our people. My experience in governance equips me to deliver meaningful development.

“If given the opportunity to serve as governor, I will focus on strengthening education, improving healthcare services, and creating employment opportunities for our youths. Our goal is to build a state where young people have jobs, schools produce future leaders, and health institutions adequately serve citizens.

“My commitment is to ensure every part of Ogun State experiences real development and an improved quality of life.”
