Ikeja Electric Plc has appealed to residents and businesses across Lagos State to remain patient as power disruptions persist in parts of its network.
The distribution company attributed the outages to reduced electricity allocation from the national grid, which has affected supply across several areas within its coverage.
In a statement shared on its official 𝕏 handle on Friday, Ikeja Electric apologised for the inconvenience and assured customers that steps are being taken to improve the situation. The company explained that the shortfall in supply is beyond its immediate control.
To manage the limited power available, Ikeja Electric said it has introduced temporary load shedding across affected feeders, aimed at ensuring fair distribution and maintaining grid stability.
The company added that it is working closely with stakeholders in the power sector to restore stability and minimise the impact on customers.
The disruption comes amid recurring electricity shortages nationwide, largely linked to gas supply constraints that have reduced power generation capacity.
As a result, many Lagos residents and businesses have continued to rely on alternative energy sources.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has been taking steps to improve electricity supply. In April, the state signed power purchase agreements with independent producers, including Mainland Power Limited, Fenchurch Power Limited, and Viathan Engineering.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the initiative is aimed at boosting reliability and ensuring accountability in electricity delivery, noting that payments will now be tied to actual power supplied.
