Veteran Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has passed away following a prolonged battle with cancer.
The heartbreaking news comes nearly two years after the actress publicly appealed for financial support to undergo a second surgery in November 2024.
Her death was confirmed on Wednesday by fellow Nollywood actor Alesh Ola Sanni, who shared an emotional tribute on his Instagram page. According to him, Osoba died on Tuesday evening.
Expressing his grief, Sanni wrote that he had been unable to sleep since hearing the news, recalling the cherished moments they shared together. He prayed for her peaceful rest and described her as a dear sister whose memories would remain with him forever.
Temitope Osoba had previously spoken openly about her health struggles and how her cancer diagnosis nearly prevented her from becoming a mother.
During an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actress revealed that doctors carried out several tests to determine whether the disease had spread. She said medical experts warned that the treatment she needed would make pregnancy unsafe for about five years because the medications could harm a baby.
Despite the prognosis, Osoba said she refused to give up hope. She explained that she relied on her faith, committing herself to prayers and fasting while believing she would overcome the challenge.
Her passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, fans, and well-wishers, who have continued to celebrate her contributions to the Nigerian film industry and remember her resilience in the face of illness.
