Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has lost the All Progressives Congress governorship primary in Oyo State to Oyo South Senator, Sarafadeen Alli.
Alli secured victory in the primary election with 578,143 votes, defeating Adelabu, who polled 19,193 votes, alongside another contender.
Adelabu had stepped down from his role as Minister of Power to pursue the Oyo State governorship ticket under the APC platform.
However, the former minister alleged that the primary election process was manipulated.
Speaking with journalists on Thursday after casting his vote at his ward, Adelabu claimed that irregularities were recorded in several polling units.
βI must raise this concern because things were not properly done in many wards,β he said.
According to him, reports from different areas indicated widespread misconduct and multiple electoral infractions during the exercise.
βIn some wards, voting reportedly took place hours before the approved time, while figures were allegedly written without due process,β Adelabu stated.
