Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Monday at an APC rally in Ebonyi State, Soludo called on the people of the South-East to align with mainstream national politics, stressing that the region should no longer “waste votes” in future elections.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria governor said progressive political forces were now working together for the benefit of both the nation and the South-East, urging Igbos to move away from what he described as the politics of lamentation.
According to him, the South-East had historically voted as a bloc for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a bid to secure greater relevance at the federal level, but the region must now adopt a different political strategy.
“No more wasting of votes again. I am endorsing President Tinubu for a second term. I stand in solidarity because progressives are working together. Igbos should not waste their vote again,” Soludo stated.
Meanwhile, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has argued that President Tinubu cannot openly criticise the administration of the late Muhammadu Buhari because of the role he played in helping Buhari emerge as president.
Speaking during an appearance on The Mic On Podcast on Sunday, Oshiomhole maintained that while both leaders have different approaches to governance and policymaking, Tinubu is constrained from publicly attacking Buhari’s record.
The former Edo State governor also claimed that Tinubu had little influence over appointments during Buhari’s administration and was not allowed to nominate members of the former president’s cabinet.
Oshiomhole further recalled remarks he made during Tinubu’s 2022 presidential campaign, when he insisted that the former Lagos State governor would not contest the presidency based on Buhari’s achievements or record in office.
