
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Justice Joseph Oyewole on his appointment to the Supreme Court, describing the promotion as well-deserved and a proud moment for the state.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement released on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in which Adeleke also praised Justice Oyewole’s character and his distinguished record in the administration of justice.
“I heartily congratulate Hon. Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole on his appointment to the bench of the Supreme Court,” the governor said.
“Hon. Justice Oyewole embodies integrity, and his dedication to justice is unparalleled,” Adeleke added.
The governor highlighted that the elevation reflects Justice Oyewole’s long-standing commitment to the judiciary and consistent professionalism over the years.
“His appointment to Nigeria’s highest court is a proud moment for Osun State, and on behalf of the good people of our state, I celebrate this remarkable achievement,” Adeleke stated.
He also expressed confidence in Justice Oyewole’s ability to perform his duties with distinction, citing his extensive experience and over two decades of impartial service on the bench.
“Given his track record of effectively and dispassionately dispensing justice, I have no doubt that Hon. Justice Oyewole will excel in this new role,” the statement concluded.
PUNCH Online reports that on Wednesday, the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended Oyewole, then Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, for appointment to the Supreme Court, alongside 35 other candidates for various judicial offices nationwide. The recommendation was made during the NJC’s 110th meeting held on January 13, 2026, presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
