Three men have been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of 26-year-old footballer Ezekiel Williams in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, as police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Williams, who was based in London, reportedly suffered fatal injuries following an assault in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, along Midsummer Boulevard in Milton Keynes. He was rushed to hospital but died on Monday, November 2, prompting Thames Valley Police to launch a murder investigation.

Police confirmed that two men, aged 21 and 28, both from Luton, were arrested on suspicion of murder. A third man, aged 30, also from Luton, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three suspects remain in police custody.

Williams’ death has sent shockwaves through the non-league football community, where he was remembered not only for his abilities on the pitch but also for his character and positive influence on teammates.

Kettering Town FC, which he joined for the 2024/2025 season, paid an emotional tribute to the late midfielder, describing him as a talented, humble, and inspirational individual whose kindness left a lasting impression on those around him.

The club said Williams demonstrated strong leadership from the beginning of his time with the team and quickly became a popular figure in the dressing room. It also highlighted his deep Christian faith, describing him as a young man whose warmth and humility touched many lives.

Beyond Kettering Town, Williams also represented FC Romania, Northwood, and Harrow Borough during his football career. He was known as a box-to-box midfielder, a role that reflected his energy and versatility on the field.

The club announced that a GoFundMe campaign had been established in his memory while expressing condolences to his family, friends, and everyone affected by his sudden death.

Detective Inspector Rob Underhill of Thames Valley Police said specially trained family liaison officers were supporting Williams’ family as they deal with the tragic loss.

He confirmed that investigators do not believe there is any wider threat to the local community, although police officers will maintain an increased presence around The Hub and Milton Keynes city center in the coming days.

Police are appealing to anyone who was around Midsummer Boulevard and The Hub between 1am and 2am on Sunday, November 1, to provide information that could assist the investigation.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area during that period is also urged to come forward.

As investigations continue, Williams’ death has left a painful void among teammates, friends, and members of the football community who remember him as much for the person he was as for the game he loved.
