Nigerian singer Crayon has sparked controversy on social media after publicly accusing Mavin Records of changing him for the worse and announcing that he is no longer friends with fellow singer Rema.
The singer made the revelations in a series of emotional posts on X, where he reflected on his experience in the music industry and expressed disappointment over relationships he claims have caused him pain.
In one of his posts, Crayon lamented the loss of the cheerful and playful personality he believes he had before joining the record label.
“What really happened to the old crayon! Mavin killed him!!! They killed the loving and playful Crayon!” he wrote.
The singer recalled joining Mavin Records as an innocent young man from Ojo, Lagos, with dreams of becoming one of Africa’s biggest music stars. However, he suggested that his journey to fame came with personal sacrifices that changed the person he once was.
“Na idiot wey make I sell my before I blow!” he added, expressing frustration over what he described as the price he paid to achieve success.
In another surprising development, Crayon announced that his friendship with Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, had come to an end.
According to him, he had endured repeated hurt and had finally decided to walk away from the relationship, leaving the matter in God’s hands.
“I and Rema are no longer friends! Una don’t hurt me! A day hurt me to the last minute! I don’t leave for God!!!!! I won’t go talk again!” he declared.
Crayon also called on Rema to address his fans and discourage them from attacking him, suggesting that the situation had extended beyond their personal disagreement.
He further hinted that he could reveal more about what he alleged Rema and another individual identified as Tega had done to him, although he did not provide specific details in the posts.
His outburst has raised questions about what may have happened behind the scenes between the singers and the record label, particularly given their previous association within the Mavin music family.
While Crayon’s statements offer his personal account of the situation, neither the full circumstances behind his allegations nor the other parties’ responses are established in the report.
The development has also brought attention to the personal challenges that can accompany fame, record-label relationships, and friendships within the competitive Nigerian music industry.
For now, Crayon’s comments suggest that unresolved issues may have reached a breaking point, although further clarification from the parties involved could provide a clearer picture of the dispute.
