Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already lost the 2027 presidential election.
Naija News reports that Yesufu, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the statement while appearing on Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday.
According to her, Tinubu is seeking the support of state governors in an attempt to project political strength.
Yesufu cited the example of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which once controlled more than 20 states but still lost the presidential election when voters decided to change leadership.
She said, “Bola Tinubu has already lost; that’s why he is looking for governors he can assemble to create an illusion of power.
“At one time, the PDP had more than 20 governors, yet it did not stop them from losing the election when the time came.
“The fact that they don’t have the people is clear. During their registration exercise, there was little interest and hardly anyone bothered to visit their website. But with the ADC, you can see the passion people are showing.”
Meanwhile, Yesufu recently accused Channels Television of misrepresenting her comments after an interview with the station.
In a post on her 𝕏 account on Monday, she said she never stated during the interview that the ADC lost the 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council election.
She explained that the YouTube video of the interview was titled “Why ADC Lost The FCT By-elections – Aisha Yesufu,” which she described as inaccurate.
Yesufu maintained that her argument during the interview was that the All Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly manipulated the election because voter turnout in Abuja was lower than what is usually recorded during general elections.
She also added that, compared to previous council elections in the FCT since she moved to Abuja, the ADC succeeded in generating greater public interest and participation in this year’s polls.
The activist therefore urged Channels Television to correct the title of the interview to better reflect what she actually said.
