Tonye Cole Pulls Out Of Rivers APC Governorship Primaries

Tonye Cole has officially withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries in Rivers State ahead of the exercise scheduled for Thursday.

According to reports, Cole announced his withdrawal in a statement issued on Wednesday, May 20, explaining that his decision was guided by the need for peace, reconciliation, and respect for party supremacy.

The APC chieftain disclosed that he consulted widely with political stakeholders and his supporters before deciding to step down from the race.

Describing himself as a firm believer in democracy and strong institutions, Cole assured party members that he would fully support whoever emerges as the APC governorship candidate after the primaries.

“This decision was reached after careful reflection, patriotism, and a strong commitment to the growth, stability, and success of our great party and Rivers State.”

Cole also expressed appreciation to his supporters, including party faithful, women groups, youths, elders, and other Rivers residents who stood by him throughout the process.

He further urged his supporters to remain peaceful and cooperate with the leadership of the party.

“Let us remain united and work together towards victory for our President, our party, and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections,” he added.
