Makinde’s 2027 Presidential Bid Doomed to Fail, Oyo APC Declares

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing it as “dead on arrival.”

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC criticized the governor’s reported presidential aspiration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reports indicate that Makinde was presented with the presidential ticket of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) during an event held in Ibadan on Saturday.

Reacting to the development, the APC accused the governor of neglecting governance in Oyo State in pursuit of his national political ambitions. The party argued that Makinde had failed to meet the expectations of residents during his seven years in office and should instead focus on addressing the state’s pressing challenges.

According to the APC, the governor has a constitutional duty to tackle the numerous problems confronting the state rather than pursuing what it described as an unrealistic presidential ambition.

The party further warned that Oyo residents could face another year of poor leadership and mismanagement if the governor remains distracted by his political aspirations.

The statement added that the people of Oyo State deserve a governor who is humble, sincere, and committed to teamwork, alleging that Makinde has failed to demonstrate such qualities during his time in office. The APC therefore urged him to take responsibility for what it called his shortcomings in governance.
