Omokri Criticises Obi, Says He Would Have Visited Anini If Alive

Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has accused former presidential candidate Peter Obi of contradicting his earlier stance on corruption by allegedly associating with individuals he once distanced himself from.

In a post shared on his 𝕏 account, Omokri questioned Obi’s consistency, claiming the former Anambra State governor is now aligned with figures he described as alleged looters and corruption-linked individuals.

He referenced Obi’s past remarks about avoiding “structures of criminality,” suggesting his current associations do not reflect that position.

Omokri also revisited Obi’s campaign outreach to religious groups during the last general elections, arguing that his message to churches now appears inconsistent with the people he is reportedly engaging with.

Citing former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Omokri raised allegations regarding assets linked to the ex-minister, questioning the kind of individuals Obi is aligning with.

He further drew a controversial comparison, mentioning notorious criminal Lawrence Anini, suggesting that Obi might have shown him support if he were still alive.

Omokri also referenced Nigeria’s former Head of State, Sani Abacha, alleging that Obi’s political associations reflect influences from that era.

His remarks have since stirred reactions, adding to ongoing political debates around alliances and credibility ahead of future elections.
