AGAIN : UK Labs Decline Paternity Test On Mohbad’s Son, Liam

Two of the three foreign laboratories approved by a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, have declined to conduct a paternity test on Liam, the son of late singer Mohbad.

The court had earlier authorised three labs in the United States and the United Kingdom to carry out DNA testing amid an ongoing dispute between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and his widow, Wunmi Aloba.

While the court selected Advanced Histopathology Laboratory in London, Wunmi chose Alpha Bio Labs in Warrington, and Joseph Aloba opted for DNA Diagnostics Centre in Ohio, US.

However, counsel to Mohbad’s father, Oladayo Ogungbe, revealed that the two UK-based laboratories have declined the request, stating they do not handle post-mortem DNA testing involving embalmed bodies.

He explained that both laboratories communicated this position after preliminary inquiries were made to confirm their capacity to carry out such tests.

Meanwhile, singer Owodunni Ibrahim, popularly known as Primeboy, has made a public appeal for Mohbad to be laid to rest nearly three years after his death.

Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023. Although he was initially buried the following day, his body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy and has remained in the morgue since then.

Joseph Aloba has insisted that the singer will not be reburied until a DNA test is conducted to confirm the paternity of Liam, his only child with Wunmi.

In a viral video, Primeboy called on the family, authorities, and the public to ensure the late singer is finally given a proper burial.
