Alex Otti Raises Concern Over Alleged Plot to Destabilise Government

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has raised alarm over an alleged plan by certain political actors to sponsor protests aimed at destabilising his administration.

In a statement issued on Friday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor disclosed that intelligence reports suggest efforts are underway to mobilise miscreants from Aba and nearby states for a protest reportedly tagged “Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop.”

Ekeoma described the planned demonstration as a deliberate attempt to spread misleading claims that projects being executed by the state government are funded by the Federal Government. He maintained that the administration had previously clarified that federal reimbursements for such projects had been discontinued.

The government also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against participating in politically motivated protests that could put their safety at risk.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and security, the administration assured residents of its dedication to maintaining a stable environment where individuals can freely engage in political activities without fear.

The statement warned that the alleged plot could provoke clashes between protesters and security agencies, particularly the State Task Force in Aba, potentially leading to violence, loss of lives, and a breakdown of law and order.

It further noted that such actions may be part of broader efforts to create instability ahead of the 2027 general elections, adding that while the government remains committed to democratic principles, it will take firm action against anyone attempting to threaten public safety under the guise of political expression.
