Tinubu Names Bianca Foreign Affairs Minister, Picks New Minister of State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue his 2027 political ambitions.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Before her new role, Odumegwu-Ojukwu served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

In a related move, President Tinubu has nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending confirmation by the Senate.

Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. With over 30 years in Nigeria’s foreign service, he has held key roles including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic postings in cities such as Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

According to the statement, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, enhance strategic global engagement, and build stronger international partnerships.

The President congratulated the appointees and urged them to promote Nigeria’s national interest, boost economic diplomacy, ensure regional stability, and protect the welfare of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
