Peter Obi breaks silence on Enugu NDC attack says ‘Anarchy will consume everybody’

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed anger over the recent attack on party supporters in Enugu State. In a video shared on X, Obi said that whenever anarchy occurs, it consumes everybody, warning those responsible to desist from such acts. He also recounted how his scheduled engagements in different states were cancelled after those who invited him reportedly received threats. Recall that tension erupted at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu on Saturday when thugs attacked members of the NDC. Why Peter Obi won’t win a ward in Anambra — NDC chairman reveals

The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Anambra State, David Chukwudifu, speaks with YUSUF OKETOLA about the reported rift between the party’s existing structure and supporters of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi What exactly is the nature of the disagreement between you and Peter Obi? I would not call it a disagreement. I would rather describe it as ill-treatment of me and the state executives of the party because Peter Obi and I have never sat down to discuss anything. Since he joined the party, he has not met with any of the South-East chairmen, particularly me, the state chairman. He has been avoiding me. Peter Obi joined the party on May 3, 2026, while I held our state congress on May 4. We then attended the National Convention in Abuja on May 9. After t...

INEC excludes Pantami, Adebutu, clears Chinda in final governorship candidates’ list

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of the 2027 governorship candidates, with the names of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship hopefuls Isa Pantami and Ladi Adebutu conspicuously absent from the list. In a list of candidates released today, October 10, the names of Messrs Pantami and Adebutu, the PDP’s candidates for the 2027 governorship elections in Gombe and Ogun states, respectively, were missing. The reason for the omission was not stated. Many, however, believe it is in compliance with the September 24 Supreme Court judgment declaring that only candidates whose names were in the party's membership list before the governorship primaries were conducted will be accredited as governorship candidates. The judgment invalidated ...

Comedian Kevin Hart wants to block his adult film partner from testifying in court battle

Kevin Hart has asked a judge to prevent Montia Sabbag, the woman involved in his 2017 adult film controversy, from testifying in his legal dispute with former assistant Miesha Shakes, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The request follows Shakes’ submission of a witness list naming Sabbag as someone who could testify about the controversy and her subsequent litigation against Hart. Hart is suing Shakes over an interview with blogger Tasha K in which she discussed his personal life. He alleges that she breached a non-disclosure agreement signed when she left his company. Shakes, who worked for Hart from 2017 to 2020, argues that the agreement is unenforceable because he failed to fulfil other obligations under their deal. In the latest filing, Hart alleges that Shake...

Reason why UK varsities are cancelling Nigerians’ admission reveals— Report claim

UK universities are withdrawing admission offers to Nigerian students amid a surge in study visa application withdrawals and fears that stricter immigration rules could bar institutions from recruiting international students. The Financial Times, in a report published on Saturday, said that 22.7 per cent of UK study visa applications from Nigerians were withdrawn in the first half of 2026, up from 4.5 per cent during the same period in 2025. The increase comes as the UK government tightens rules for universities sponsoring international students, with institutions now facing the risk of being barred from recruiting overseas students if more than five per cent of prospective international students they admit have their visa applications rejected. The threshold was previously 10 per...

US warns American executives of risks corruption and detention risk in Nigeria

The United States Department of State has identified insecurity, corruption, port delays and regulatory uncertainty as major barriers to investment in Nigeria, despite signs of improving macroeconomic stability. In its 2026 Investment Climate Statements on Nigeria, the department said the country’s business environment reflected the effects of “painful but necessary” structural reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The report said fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange liberalisation initially caused significant economic volatility, although indicators in early 2026 suggested some stabilisation. Security risks, administrative bottlenecks and the social costs of those reforms nevertheless remained concerns for foreign investors. “The security environment is ...
